At this stage there are Various areas of learning:

 

1. Personal, social and emotional development

This area consists of several aspects which aim at helping children to:

  • Develop a sense of self care, their self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Develop a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Form good relationships with others
  • Understand and respect their own needs, views cultures and beliefs and those of others.

Children are provided with experiences that help to promote their emotional, social and intellectual development.

2. Communication and Language

This includes the following aspects :

Language for communication and thinking, linking sounds and letters, reading and writing.
Children are provided with opportunity, encouragement and support to:

  • Learn and build their competence in communication and listening
  • Interact with others and extend their vocabulary through rhymes and poems
  • Use language to imagine and recreate roles and experience and learn to link sounds to letters
  • Use their phonic knowledge to write simple words.

3. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy (Mathematical Development)

This area is subdivided into categories, namely

  • Numbers as labels and for counting
  • Calculating
  • Shape, space and measurements

Children are given the opportunities to explore mathematical ideas, concept and language through both indoor and outdoor activities. They are encouraged to explore real-life problems and their mathematical thinking are constantly exploited through daily practical routines.

4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

In this area children are supported in developing the skills that help them to make sense of the world.

  • Different experiences such as encounter with plants, people and objects in the natural environment and handling tool and equipment are provided to support children in the following aspects:
  • Exploring and investigating objects and living things.
  • Building and constructing using a wide range of tools and equipment.
  • Using ICT and programmable toys to support their learning
  • Gaining an awareness of the cultures and beliefs of self and others.
  • Finding about past and present events in their own lives and in those of their families and other people they know.

5. Physical Development

Children are encouraged to be active and interactive, showing an awareness of others. Opportunities are given to improve skills of coordination, control, manipulation and movement. Support is given to children to use their senses to learn about the world around them. Children are helped to develop an understanding of the importance of physical activity and making healthy choices of food.

6. Creative Development

Children’s creativity are extended by the provision of support for their curiosity, exploration and play. Opportunities are provided to explore and share ideas and feelings through music, dance, drawing, imaginative and role play activities.
A stimulating environment is provided to value children creativity, originality and expressiveness.

All our children enjoy learning.Play underpins children’s intellectual, creative, physical , social and emotioanl development , so staff plan daily learning opportunities for indoor and outdoor play.
Children progress is carefully monitored and staff use thier observations and assessments to plan the next steps of learning in Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication, Language and Literacy, Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy, Knowledge & Understanding of the world, Physical Development and Creative Development.
